Building Codes Subject Guide
The NJ Department of Community Affairs (DCA), Division of Codes and Standards, has the authority to establish building codes for the state of New Jersey. Most communities have a municipal construction office that will enforce the state codes.
The current list of all construction code currently adopted by the state is available through the Division’s website, http://www.state.nj.us/dca/divisions/codes/codreg. Many of the codes are available to view online from the Division’s site for free, but they cannot be printed or downloaded.
The Library maintains most of the New Jersey codes in print form available to use and photocopy within the library. The Vogelson branch in Voorhees also keeps many prior editions of the code books for research. Please contact the library if you have any questions about our code collection.
