Description of Duties

As a Monitor a candidate may be asked to:
• Cart and shelve Library materials.
• Gather and shelve material that accumulates on book carts, tables, shelves, and study carrels.
• Shelf reading (making sure that materials are in the correct order).
• Empty the outdoor book drops including on weekends and holidays
• Answer the phone and direct calls to the appropriate individuals
• Fax materials to other libraries and to patrons.
At times, in order to perform assigned duties to this position, you may be asked to push a full book cart which can weigh up to 40lbs, twist, bend, kneel, reach, walk or stand for extended periods. May be scheduled at other branches.

Requirements:

Knowledge of basic arithmetic using whole numbers and the Dewey Decimal System
Ability to perform extensive alphabetizing beyond the first letter of a word.
Ability to converse courteously in person and using other methods of communication
Ability to comprehend and follow written and/or oral one-or-two step instructions

Description of Duties

As an intern, you will:

  • Find out what a librarian in one of the busiest public libraries in New Jersey does
  • Gain experience working at our busy Youth Services desk, serving customers from birth-high school (and their caregivers)
  • Gain experience setting-up and conducting programs for children & teens
  • Find out how to know what customers are REALLY asking for
  • Gain valuable experience in the many of the things librarians do…computer help, reader's advisory, reference assistance, creating displays, running programs & story times, and more
  • Learn why Librarianship is such a great profession and why the Camden County Library is such a great place to work

Requirements:

Must be currently enrolled in a Master of Library Science Program, preferable ALA accredited

Students with an interest in Youth Services Librarianship strongly encouraged to apply

Description of Duties

Requirements:

A Master's degree in Library or Information Science in a library program accredited by the American Library Association or from a New Jersey College Master's Program in Library Science that has been deemed acceptable by Thomas Edison State College.

Prior experience in Childrens or Teens programming and circulation functions helpful. Appointee may be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.

Description of Duties

The Camden County Library System is seeking a Principal Technician, MIS to join our Information Technology team.  Under the supervision of the Head of IT, the candidate will:

  • Manage approximately 400 PCs and related peripherals in 8 locations
  • Manage the preparation and deployment of new PCs
  • Plan and deploy enterprise software systems, including updates and upgrades
  • Manage the specification and testing of new hardware and software systems
  • Document and disseminate computer operations standards and procedures
  • Maintain hardware and software inventory
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair hardware, software and peripherals
  • Take the lead over other technicians and assign resources  as necessary

The qualified candidate should have experience with Microsoft Server 2012 and Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, Windows 10 for Enterprise or Education, PC imaging, local-area and wide-area networking.

May be required to travel to other Library and County facilities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree.

Two (2) years of experience utilizing or implementing electronic information systems, analyzing information

 systems and/or developing procedures for the use of information systems, or providing user support and solving user problems in a help desk or related environment.

 NOTE: Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute additional experience as indicated above on a year-for-year basis. OR  A Bachelor's degree in a computer-related area may be substituted for one (1) year of the experience as indicated above OR  A Master's degree in a computer-related area may be substituted for two (2) years of the experience as indicated above.  OR Twenty-four (24) credits in data processing from an  accredited college may be substituted for two (2) years of the education requirement.
